Cordovan Formal Belt – 30% off pre-order

Well known among fine shoe enthusiasts, cordovan is an exceptional and rare leather with a uniquely deep color. Extremely durable, it has the distinctive characteristic of not creasing when bent—combined with its natural shine and high content of natural oils and waxes, this explains why it is so prized by shoemakers.

Worked on the reverse side (the flesh side rather than the grain), it is taken from a very specific small section of the horse hide and requires more than six months of vegetable tanning, making it particularly rare and costly. Cordovan is hand-dyed and displays subtle color variations. Several tanneries around the world produce their own versions, but the original—made by Horween, located in the heart of Chicago—remains unmatched, and this is the one we have chosen to work with.

In recent years, we have crafted cordovan versions of our formal belt on a made-to-order basis for a few enthusiasts. Today, we wish to make this belt more widely available by offering it as a pre-order at a preferential price. Pre-orders are open until December 1, with delivery scheduled for mid-December, just in time for the holiday season.

Burgundy cordovan—color #8—appears almost dark brown at first glance, but it will reveal lighter, more colorful highlights in the light, making it a particularly versatile option. Its black version also features interesting undertones and a depth of color you won’t find in any other leather.
