stained glass in the window
our seasonal window display showcases stained glass. it was created by our friend Thibaut Bechecat, master stained-glass artist for over 15 years, who drew inspiration from traditional stained-glass motifs to produce two exclusive creations echoing our latest collection.
The choice of colors and textures, cutting, tinting, finishing … there are many parallels to be drawn between the steps involved in creating a stained glass window and those involved in making a piece of leather goods. In order to nurture our curiosity about other crafts, we accompanied Thibault Bechecat through many of the stages involved in the creation of these two stained-glass windows, from the choice of glass to the final installation, including the precise work carried out in his Parisian workshop: design, preparation, cutting, crimping and soldering.
These creations are inspired by traditional stained glass motifs – such as the radiance – but also by the more abstract motifs of french modernist stained glass from the 60’s and 70’s. Created on the shape of a lancet head (the upper part of a stained glass window in a church), these stained glass windows were designed to highlight and echo our winter collection.
