open source collection
a new open source capsule makes its debut in our collection.
it includes a card holder and two formats of airpod cases. these objects benefit from an ingenious construction: made from a single piece of leather, they close with two invisible buttons that maintain their shape.
laperruque creates durable objects that can be used for as long as possible, focusing on quality, functionality and sobriety of design. however, the objects that are used the longest are sometimes also those with a strong affective dimension, and objects made by oneself or by a loved one often enjoy a stronger attachment than objects bought off the shelf. we therefore wanted to offer the curious, amateurs and do-it-yourselfers the chance to create an even more durable personal version of our objects.
in an act of radical transparency that contributes to the fight against emotional obsolescence, we are sharing the patterns and instructions for making these objects.
enabling amateurs and professionals alike to learn, share and progress, open source has its roots in the counter-cultural movement of the 1960s in the united states. the work of lloyd kahn and victor papanek, who advocated a more open and socially responsible design, as well as that of gerrit rietveld and enzo mari were the sources of inspiration for our design manuals.
